Attaboy in concert with MercyMe!

Attaboy opened up for MercyMe at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne. It was great to have such a HUGE hometown show. Hopefully a lot of people were introduced to Attaboy that otherwise may have not been. Jeff was not nervous for the show at all, which seems crazy to me! But the guys did a great job- they sounded really good and constructed a great set that appealed to their less than normal crowd (this crowd had quite a varied age demographic).

While I am bragging about my husband, Attaboy is now on the radio! Their first radio single is "Wait on You" which you can hear on their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/attaboyonline. During our summer travels, we have heard the song a few times on the radio- which was super exciting! You can see on their myspace and pictures below the new look of Attaboy: Lightning bolt, Orange and Grey, pretty cool ;)

Getting set up on the field the day of the show

About 5,500 to 6,000 showed up that night! Biggest show yet

Rockin out

Look! Jeff on the big screen at Parkview Field! I'm so proud =)

Weekend with the Shorts

I had the chance to visit Rachael and Daron Short and their dog Belle while we were in CO! It was great to stay in the sweet house that they flipped and just to be with good friends for a while. Rachael, Belle and I hiked each day I was there, it was awesome! It was a great chance to talk (sometimes that was a bit difficult for me due to the altitude) and enjoy God's beautiful creation. I really appreciated Rachael taking me on some of her favorite hikes.

Lovin' it
After spending time with both the Shorts and the Kirchners, it was bittersweet to leave such awesome friends. I have always known friendship is important, but these visits stirred up a hunger in me for community. There is a price that I pay for going on the road: all of my relationships are long distance. Is this how other people feel?

FRIENDS! People that you can serve and be served by. Love and be loved by. I feel as though most of us are created to go through life with, serve, and love people that we can physically be near, touch and hug. Without that interaction, I think something is missing from life. At least, I feel as though that something is missing from mine.

I guess for now my position in life is to love the people that are right before me at the time. It may be while visiting old friends that I love dearly, or meeting someone at a show for the first time. I will still love them both. The thing that is missing is the staying. We are always going. Off to the next city. Off on the next tour. I am praying that I will be content with this time in our lives, but I don't feel guilty looking forward to a time when I can stay. Stay and get to know someone deeper. Stay and be known deeper. Stay until a stranger becomes a friend. Stay and feel part of a community.

Woodland Park and Quaker Ridge Camp

Greetings from "Special Guest Blogger Jeff." Molly asked me to share a bit about this summer, so here goes!
Basically, we play at mostly camps for a week at a time throughout the summer. It is definitely a nice change of pace from the rest of the year. First, we don't have to set up and tear down gear everyday, or drive several hours each day in the van! But mainly, it is great for us to be able to spend significantly more time with the kids that we minister to throughout the week at a camp. Musically, we often set aside our original tunes and turn into more of a worship band during the summer, as this generally fits the camp needs better. Off the stage, we try our best to spend time with the kids by going to their activities, and also eating meals with them. These are both great ways to get to know them, and show them that we are not "rock stars," but just normal people like them. Everywhere we go, people are generally surprised by our availability to the kids. This always seems really unfortunate to me, as it indicates how many CHRISTIAN musicians out there are too wrapped up in their ego to spend time with people. But that is another soap box for another day... :)
One of my favorite things about camp is being able to pretty much act like a kid, and do all of the stuff that the campers do. Where else can you go blobbing, ride a waterslide, get in the middle of a "crud war", ride a zip line, etc.??
Camp is definitely tiring too, and we had 5 long weeks of it this summer. It was a great summer, but I will enjoy getting back into the regular concert routine this fall.
Below is a picture of Amos and I dressed in "mariachi" suits, just before we "serenade" campers one night at camp.
During Jeff's last week of summer camp, I spent a nice week with my in-laws, Mike and Pat. We had a fun time exploring new towns and seeing the sites. Every day we would venture out from our home base of Woodland Park and have some fun. The highlights included Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, Cripple Creek, Castle Rock, Cliff Dwellings Museum, Olympic Training Center, Air Force Academy, and we never even missed a meal! ;)

First weekend in CO

We made it to Colorado! Ah, what a great state! We first enjoyed some sight seeing in "the springs". We went to Garden of the Gods which was lovely. I mean don't get me wrong it is beautiful and everything, but we were all in agreement that the name sort of hypes the place up a bit too much. This is where gods hang out?? I would think they could do better- but ok.
There's Jeff doing a bit of rock climbing- hang on Jeff, you can do it!
Nature!
Doing the typical tourist pose, but loving it!
We spent a few nights with our good friends Christi and Ben Kirchner. They were so welcoming and opened their home to us. Christi was in our wedding and I value her friendship so much. Time spent with Christi is always inspiring, if you met her, you would understand =) I couldn't ask for a more genuine friend.
This is us in Boulder, CO- very cool town!
