Basically, we play at mostly camps for a week at a time throughout the summer. It is definitely a nice change of pace from the rest of the year. First, we don't have to set up and tear down gear everyday, or drive several hours each day in the van! But mainly, it is great for us to be able to spend significantly more time with the kids that we minister to throughout the week at a camp. Musically, we often set aside our original tunes and turn into more of a worship band during the summer, as this generally fits the camp needs better. Off the stage, we try our best to spend time with the kids by going to their activities, and also eating meals with them. These are both great ways to get to know them, and show them that we are not "rock stars," but just normal people like them. Everywhere we go, people are generally surprised by our availability to the kids. This always seems really unfortunate to me, as it indicates how many CHRISTIAN musicians out there are too wrapped up in their ego to spend time with people. But that is another soap box for another day... :)
One of my favorite things about camp is being able to pretty much act like a kid, and do all of the stuff that the campers do. Where else can you go blobbing, ride a waterslide, get in the middle of a "crud war", ride a zip line, etc.??
Camp is definitely tiring too, and we had 5 long weeks of it this summer. It was a great summer, but I will enjoy getting back into the regular concert routine this fall.

During Jeff's last week of summer camp, I spent a nice week with my in-laws, Mike and Pat. We had a fun time exploring new towns and seeing the sites. Every day we would venture out from our home base of Woodland Park and have some fun. The highlights included Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, Cripple Creek, Castle Rock, Cliff Dwellings Museum, Olympic Training Center, Air Force Academy, and we never even missed a meal! ;)Air Force Academy Chapel
